The End is Just A New Beginning

So looking back on this cource, I have learned a lot about css, as far as how it can show and hide elements, bring different parts of a page to life, and also give the overall look of a page a cohesive feel.

I have been busy this semseter with 17 credits, so probably haven’t been able to splurge into css designing as much as I could have. However, once again this class gives me a root in which to grow from. A place where I can start to expand my knowledge, making websites more asthetically pleasing, user friendly and also compatable by all browsers.

The process of taking an idea from a comp to a sitemap to a rough to a finished product is an awesome, and rewarding effort. I was glad I was able to do that with this class, to learn more in depth the steps using css and xhtml.

Talking s

I thought this was a unique title, nonetheless I will digress into this weeks discussion.

Throughout the past few lessons we have learned. CSS is awesome, but I have to say when I first heard about spright I was floored. Here was this script that could opperate like a javascript but was absent the mess that javascript is. I still don’t have the best handle on it, but I think with more practice and familiarity I will get it down. This has been a good starting point for me, and obviously with endurance it can only get better from here. I’ve felt like these lessons have been a good opertunity to start that effort, and I hope I can carry it through to make my web projects the best they can be.

eCSSential

CSS is such a great gateway into web design, and as I continue to go through these lessons I’m excited about the various ways I get to include it and use it to structure my webpages. As I’ve gone through the lessons I’ve been amazed to see how intragal css is. I know how I’ve used it within structuring a page, but I think I’ve undersestimated the power it offers. It might sound cheesy but through these lessons it’s made me endevor to stretch my imagination farther as far as implimenting css into pages for not only structure, and style but also for usability.

I am looking fowarded to the assignments and knowledge to come

Anyone for Seconds?

Journaling Entry 2 (Blog 2)
DGM 2740: Web Design X01, 001 Fall 2008

I feel like I have learned how to implement code more. I am used to designing a page from the front end. With using TextEdit I can implement what I already know about coding. It’s been refreshing and a step I’ve needed to take again. I have done striaght code before but it has been years since I’ve done it consistantly. So using the css and the xhtml has been fun because it has braught back that part of web design for me. It’s also actually given me a new kick to design.

Ideas that came to mind is a new sort of style, mainly dealing with the menus using css. I have done this before, but it has inspired me to build a menu where the main category is an image and the sub-menus are still css and show up on roll overs. It’s also given me some ideas of designs I would like to use. It has re-implanted me into web design.

I’ve worked on the CSS menus and coding on the back end more. Playing around with Divs, and such. I am still frustrated because I can’t get the <center><div></div></center> tag to work. That is honestly frustrating.

Welcome to Number07

Welcome to Number07, my name is Kara and I am a student at UVU. I hale from Southeastern Idaho which happens to be north of Utah. I have been involved with web design for eight years – more personally than professionally – and have aquired majority of my web design knowledge through self teaching. I also spent a semester creating and modifying databases though I profess it is not my strong suit. I am more art oriented when it comes to the web, and use databases etc when it serves a purpose to enhance or further my web sites.

This is why I am a DGM with Web emphasis major. I absolutely love a great looking website, and one that functions well. I hope that the classes I am taking will further my education and ability with this. Secondly I hope it contributes to my portfolio.

For news on future projects please check back soon.
